Further expansion as new Optics centres open
2 October 2009
Hearing Aid Solutions, the largest independent hearing company in Wales, has expanded its services.
The Carmarthen-based business has opened in the Optic Shop in Cardiff and Bridgend. This will be Hearing Aid Solution’s third outlet in Optic Shops, the first opened in its Swansea shop in Kingsway in July.
This makes nine outlets for Hearing Aid Solutions across Wales stretching from Cardiff Bay to the Pembrokeshire coast.
The company offers a free hearing demonstration, hearing aid products, including open ear aids for mild or moderate hearing loss, a fitting and repair service and a tinnitus management centre, run by specialists Sarah Foster and Clare Alderman.
Hearing Aid Audiologist Martyn Scott, who runs the company with his wife Pippa, said: “The businesses has grown rapidly since we opened in Carmarthen three years ago. The age of people with hearing difficulties is dropping and we are now seeing clients in their early 50s compared to a few years ago when it was over 60.
“With one in three people over 60 and two in three over 80 who are hard of hearing, the demand for our services is on the increase.
“By being in more locations we can provide people with a fully independent, unbiased service with competitive prices and a wealth of expert advice,” he said.
Mr Scott is waiting to hear if he has been successful in his nomination for Audiologist of the Year run by hearing aid battery manufacturer Rayovac. If successful Mr Scott will pick up 1,000 euros and go forward to the European finals later this month.
Hearing Aid Solutions is one of only 35 independent practices in the UK and the only one in Wales to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals.

About Hearing Aid Solutions
Hearing Aid Solutions was established in 1997 in Carmarthen, and has become Wales’ largest independent Hearing centre, with locations in Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, Fishguard, Lampeter, Llandeilo and now Swansea.
Being independent, we are not tied to, or owned by any company or manufacturer, which means we can use the most appropriate hearing system available for the patient.
We are proud to be the only member of AIHHP (Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals) in Wales, reassuring you that our practice offers only the highest standards of care and services available.
Using the latest in digital technology, we make sure each individual’s needs are catered for. We also follow up each new fitting at least twice to ensure patient acceptance and benefit, not only after the fitting, but for the life of the hearing instrument, arranging free regular six monthly reassessments.
Martyn Scott is an ex-National Council member for the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists, and is a Council Member for AIHHP.
