Hearing services available in surgeries

Hearing Aid Solutions is making its services available through 12 new centres in Wales
Wales’ largest independent hearing aid specialist is expanding by opening outlets in 10 GP surgeries.
The company already has 12 centres in Wales and has implemented plans to make its services more accessible to customers across South Wales.
Hearing Aid Solutions will be operating on an appointment-only basis at GP surgeries in Pencoed, Fforestfach, Taffs Well, Ystrad Cwrt Rawlin, Clydach, Penarth, Llanelli, Llantwit Major and two in Barry.
Managing Director Martyn Scott said: “One of the main reasons for our expansion is because a lot of centres are too far away for people to reach. We wanted to make hearing advice and our services more accessible. GP surgeries are usually on a bus route or easy to get to and they are also familiar surroundings for many of our customers.
“It’s shocking but 40 percent of people over 50 have some kind of hearing loss and this rises to more than 70 percent of over 70s. But we also know that people live with hearing difficulties for between 10 to 15 years before seeking help. We believe that our extended presence within surgeries will raise more awareness of hearing-related issues and encourage people to take advantage of our free hearing tests. We are also offering a free 30 day hearing trial for those who do need hearing aids, which is an extra benefit.
“We know that more people would like more of the service that we offer and this is all about meeting that demand and making our expertise more readily available.”
Hearing Aid Solutions also has outlets in Pontypridd, Mumbles, Swansea Fishguard, Lampeter, Llandeilo, Haverfordwest, Bridgend, Pontypridd and Cardiff. Hearing Aid Solutions is the only practice in Wales to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence and is a member of the Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals.
