Martyn Scott is the only audiologist in the UK to win a commendation two years in a row.
Recommendation from a number of his patients has resulted in Carmarthen audiologist Martyn Scott winning an industry award for the second year running.
Mr Scott, who runs Hearing Aid Solutions in King Street, was presented with a certificate of commendation at the European Audiologist of the Year Awards held at Sunningdale, Berkshire. He is the only audiologist in the UK to receive the commendation two years in a row.
The awards, run by hearing aid battery maker Rayovac and Audio Infos Magazine, recognise audiologists and dispensers who go beyond the call of duty in the service they offer. Nominations for this year’s award doubled from last year. Out of these just 10 received commendations.
Mr Scott said: “It’s wonderful to get the award and even more pleasing that nominations come from our patients. We aim to give the highest possible level of service to our clients and this is the icing on the cake.”
Mr Scott attended the ceremony with his wife Pippa, who is company secretary and Clare Alderman, one of the firm’s Clinical Audiologists.
Hearing Aid Solutions has become Wales’ largest independent hearing centre, with locations also in Haverfordwest, Fishguard, Lampeter, Llandeilo, Swansea, Cardiff and Bridgend. It is the only member of AIHHP (Association of Independent Hearing Healthcare Professionals) in Wales, and the only practice in Wales to run an independent tinnitus management centre.
The company has recently implemented plans to make its services available across South Wales by offering appointments at GP surgeries in Pencoed, Fforestfach, Taffs Well, Ystrad Cwrt Rawlin, Clydach, Penarth, Llanelli, Llantwit Major and two in Barry.
